On Tuesday afternoon, the Toronto Blue Jays turned some heads around after defeating the New York Yankees 9-2 at TD Ballpark.

The Yankees pitcher Gumby, or Jordan Montgomery, started the game, but the Blue Jays regulars lineup quickly stacked three runs in the first inning leaving the Yankees incompetent for the rest of the game.

Toronto outfielder George Springer, who played for the first time this season, began in the first inning with a single to right field, with Bo Bichette sending him into scoring position.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. then added to the Jays’ explosion of offense by adding a curveball to left field followed by a double to right field.

It’s no messing around in this division,” Yankees ace Gerrit Cole said. “The Blue Jays are a damn good team.”

Are the Blue Jays a better team than the Yankees heading into the 2022 season?
