Washington Mystics at Dallas Wings

  • Leg 1: Washington Mystics +5.5 (-112)
  • Leg 2: Over 172 Total Points (-110)
  • Leg 3: Brittney Sykes To Score 15+ Points (+156)
  • Leg 4: Teaira McCowan To Record 6+ Rebounds (-460)

The Wings (9-23) and the Mystics (9-23) have identical records, so this game should be a lot of fun despite both teams being 14 games under .500.

Dallas suffered a 100-93 loss to the visiting Indiana Fever on Sunday, and that snapped a season-best three-game winning streak. The Wings have scored 93 or more points in four consecutive games, which is great news, but defense continues to be an issue that holds this team back. The Wings have allowed 90 or more points in three of the past four outings, and 87 or more points in 15 of the previous 18 contests. It’s no surprise that the Over is 3-1 in the past four games and 13-5 in the previous 18 outings.

The Wings are last in the W with 90.7 points per game allowed, and also dead-last in defensive field goal percentage at 47.4%. They’re a little better at guarding the three, allowing teams to hit 35.2% from behind the arc. All of those defensive deficiencies mask the fact this isn’t a bad offensive club. Dallas averages a healthy 83.7 PPG while hitting 44.6% from the field. They’re so-so in 3-pointer percentage (33.0%) and field-goal percentage (77.8%).

Arike Ogunbowale is averaging a team-best 22.7 points per game (PPG) for the Wings, while also leading the team in steals per game (SPG) with 2.4. Teaira McCowan is the big body down low, grabbing 7.9 rebounds per game (RPG).

As for the Mystics, they’ve also shown improvement of late. Like Dallas, Washington had a season-high three-game win streak snapped last time out on Saturday against Connecticut. The Mystics are still 4-1 ATS in the past five games while going a healthy 16-6 ATS in the past 22 outings since June 7.

These teams previously met on June 22-23 in a back-to-back set in the nation’s capital, with Washington sweeping the pair. The Mystics won 97-69 as a 3-point underdog in the first meeting as the Over (160) cashed in, and they won 92-84 as a 1-point favorite as the Over (163) cashed in the rematch. The home team is 4-1 ATS in the past five meetings in this series, and the Over has cashed in three in a row.

This should be a hotly contested game, and taking the Mystics and the points is a good idea. Also, going Over is a strong play, as the Wings have very little defense, and Washington ranks 2nd in the league with a 36.2% 3-pointer percentage. The Mystics aren’t too hot defensively, either, allowing 83.4 PPG, 45.3% from the field, and 34.7% from downtown.

As far as player props are concerned, Brittney Sykes will be looking to get well against the defensively challenged Wings. Sykes has managed just 7.5 PPG in the past two outings, her first time going back-to-back with single-digit point totals this season. She is just 5-of-20 from the field in the two-game span, too, so facing Dallas should be the elixir to cure her shooting ills. She wasn’t active for the first meetings, but she did average 24.0 PPG in the two games prior to the slump, so she has been a bit erratic. Look for Sykes to get back on track, and go for at least 15 points. At plus-money, it’s a good bet.

And, keeping it very simple, we’ll roll with Dallas’ Teaira McCowan to snag at least six rebounds. You wouldn’t bet this straight up, as it would cost you more than 4 1/2 times your potential return, but as part of an SGP, it’s a great addition to bump up your payout.

Chicago Sky at Las Vegas Aces

  • Leg 1: Chicago Sky +13 (-108)
  • Leg 2: Kamilla Cardoso To Score 10+ Points (-128)
  • Leg 3: Kamilla Cardoso To Record 8+ Rebounds (-215)
  • Leg 4: A’ja Wilson To Score 25+ Points (-198)
  • Leg 5: A’ja Wilson To Record 12+ Rebounds (-142)
  • Leg 6: Jackie Young 2+ Made Threes (-198)

The Sky (11-21) travel to meet the Aces (20-12), and this game will take place at T-Mobile Arena, not Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay like usual.

These teams just met at Wintrust Arena in Chicago on Aug. 25, and the Aces escaped with a 77-75 victory, although the Sky was able to grab the cover as 9.5-point underdogs as the Under (169.5) cashed.

In that victory by Las Vegas, A’ja Wilson went off for 20 points, 18 rebounds, and three blocked shots with two steals, showing rookie Angel Reese that Wilson is still the top player and big in this league. However, Reese was able to go for 22 rebounds with 11 points and two blocked shots, although she was an abysmal 4-of-16 from the field. Chennedy Carter added 25 points with three 3-pointers.

The rookie Kamilla Cardoso is the player we’re focusing on against the Aces, however. The former South Carolina standout had eight points with 12 rebounds and five blocked shots in the most recent meeting with Las Vegas, and she is coming off a career-high 22-point performance at Minnesota while grabbing nine rebounds. She is a strong play to get to double digits in points while grabbing at least eight boards here. In three prior meetings with the Aces, Cardoso is averaging just 6.3 PPG, but she has 9.3 RPG. After the strong offensive showing against the Lynx, she should get to at least 10 points on Tuesday.

And for the Aces, Wilson has just been going off on everyone of late. She had 41 points and 17 rebounds in Phoenix on Sunday, and she has 41 or more points in two of the past three outings. She also has 16 or more rebounds in three of the past five games and 20 or more points in five consecutive outings. Go high on her player props, and be confident in doing so.
