On Wednesday, LAFC faced off against Tigres UANL in a clash between the institutions that have secured the most prestigious titles in their respective leagues. However, once again, they fell short in their quest to claim a trophy beyond domestic competitions, leaving their fans disappointed at BMO Stadium.

How LAFC have fallen in finals

The first significant showdown occurred in 2020 when, amidst the covid-19 pandemic, the Black & Golds eliminated clubs like Club León and Club América from Liga MX on their path to the Concacaf Champions League. Nevertheless, they were defeated by León in Orlando.

Their second missed opportunity on the international stage happened earlier this year against the top-tier Mexican side, Esmeraldas, in the same competition. What made it even more painful was the loss on their home turf, following a lackluster performance in the final after losing the first leg in Mexican territory. This denied them the chance to celebrate in front of their home crowd.
